I’m sure this isn’t original thought, but thought I’d post it here for posterity. (not much point being right about something retrospectively)

So here it is: I think the next Apple TV will be a Mac mini in a sexy new form factor (and called Apple TV). The Mini is (was?) basically a media centre with benefits, and Apple has always been good at streamlining their product line-up to avoid cannibalism. Why have a compact computer that makes a good media centre when you have a good media centre that people would like to be a compact computer.

Apple TV is already running a slimmed down version of OS X, a few UI nips and tucks here and there and it would be perfectly usable trans-living room (where is this resolution independent UI we’ve been hearing about for ages anyway?). Also: a wireless version of the wired keyboard form factor with an über trackpad replacing the number pad/arrow would be very nice.

Pray with me people. XBMC(Plex) and EyeTV in your Apple TV, just think about that.

What’s going on here! Having bravely written a few posts sporting that ubiquitous WordPress theme we’ve come to hate, I finally collect what few design skills I have into a meagre pile and knock out this. It’s not edgy or eye catching, but it’s mine (and customisable to boot, check back for exciting new header and footer images each week.. month!)

With that out of the way, I decided I had nothing further to contribute to the blogosphere and migrated to less committed climes (twitter and tumblr). Figures.

Anyhow, lets call this an ice breaker, hopefully signalling a torrent of posting to come. I’ve got a new camera, job, stories and projects to share so please, continue to wait patiently.

I’ll crack this blogging thing one day.
